Does anyone keep a journal/diary?

I've been thinking a lot recently about keeping a journal. Partly because I'm building a nice fountain pen collection and want to use them! But also to aid sleep, writing down thoughts and worries etc. My main concern is other people finding and reading it, there might be tings I would 'confess' in a journal that I want to keep completely private. I know I should trust my partner would not read it if she found it, but how do I know for sure? I don't keep many secrets per se but there is one big one Wouldn't want to share (or at least not be found by reading a journal). I suppose I could keep the 'secret' stuff out but to me that would defeart the purpose of a journal.
