Brand name vs. Generic - Benzos
#19
Teva has a history of not keeping its products equivalent. It may have met FDA standards at first, that's fact. But here is fact that they haven't kept up with this standard.

The generics must contain the exact same amount the of active ingredient. This is regulated by the FDA and and strictly enforced. If the generics do not contain the exact same amount of active ingredient, the FDA would shut them down.

From the FDA:

What standards do generic drugs have to meet?

Health professionals and consumers can be assured that FDA approved generic drugs have met the same rigid standards as the innovator drug. To gain FDA approval, a generic drug must:

contain the same active ingredients as the innovator drug(inactive ingredients may vary)
be identical in strength, dosage form, and route of administration
   have the same use indications
   be bioequivalent
meet the same batch requirements for identity, strength, purity, and quality
be manufactured under the same strict standards of FDA's good manufacturing practice regulations required for innovator products

If the government said it, it must be true.

If the government said it, it must be true.

Well since your anti-government I guess if the government said it, then it must not be true in your mind. I'm not pro or anti-government. There are many things about this government I don't agree with. Having said that, I am very thankful we have an agency such as the FDA that not only keeps watch over the prescription medications we consume, but OTCs and the foods we consume as well. Without the FDA anyone could sell products with just whatever ingredients they choose, and many people would die as a result.

I'm done here.

Cheers!

Your input is appreciated. But I didn't make this thread to argue about the FDA. Rather those with experiences with brand vs. generic.
