A well-written and very informative piece of literature. Dr. Stephen Loyd, Medical Director for substance abuse services in Tennessee, was a former addict; I absolutely love this fact. I can't think of someone better to fill that position than an individual that admits he still has to deal with cravings even after 15 years.
I'm sure many other states would much rather just hire Dr. Joe Shmoe, has a top pedigree, and gained all of his/her 'expertise' by reading and treating others. NTTAWWT, but combine the fact that a dr like Dr. Loyd underwent the 'transformation' PERSONALLY with a vast knowledge of biology and medicine and poof! You have someone with far greater insights about addiction as a disease and can better explain why current treatment methods for addicts largely fail and even speaks truthfully about the serious consequences that these drugs have on our bodies as a whole after just a couple of doses and that it takes much more than just 'stopping' to be successful in recovery.
Thanks for the post!
