What rubbish!  They hoped to hold onto my coins for 3 days to make profit for themselves before sending them on.
This is a REAL issue when your Newsagency has stated that the quote for your magazines is only good for 24 hours.
In both cases I contacted Coinbase's Support line - and got automated responses stating that the transfer time could not be altered up by the Support Team.

What I found I had to do was cancel the 'held' transaction - and to their credit my coins were immediately put back into my wallet - and then perform the same transaction action again. Surprise! On both occasions the 2nd transaction went through to the blockchain immediately and was confirmed within 20mins.

Yes Mabuhay, Coinbase is easy to use - but you have to keep your eyes open for their random "your coins are being held for 72 hours for your security' logarithm with every transaction!

Agreed. The second my btc transaction clears I transfer it away from coinbase and then it is totally under my control. I would never pay a newsagent direct from Coinbase since they look for those sorts of transactions. It always goes via a wallet, or two, first.

Never had the 72hr problem, but would be furious if I did. Anything could happen to the value in that time. Ok, I might forgive them if it increased so I made a profit, but it is pretty random. I made money on btc years ago because I was in from very early on - my first bitcoin cost $20. These days it is 50/50, sometimes I'm up, sometimes I'm down. But I never spend what I can't afford to lose.

As a form of payment I like it because there is no ambiguity about whether it went through.

I’ve had cash app for a while now, and I did purchase Bitcoins I’ve just been letting them sit. Does anyone know if their newerish “withdrawal” option is like sending a payment? I’ve searched a lot but haven’t found any one who’s actually “withdrawn” to someone else’s BTC wallet... or if it’s safe to do that from their app?
